Executive Director's Letter

Dear Florida blueberry growers,

It is with great excitement and a deep sense of responsibility that I introduce myself as the new Executive Director of the Florida Blueberry Growers Association. It is truly an honor to serve an organization that represents the heart of Florida's agricultural community—a community built on grit, resilience, and a passion for cultivating excellence.

As I step into this role, I do so with deep respect for the hard work, determination, and innovation that define Florida’s blueberry growers. Our industry is no stranger to challenges — rising production costs, unpredictable weather, and fierce market competition have tested us all. Yet, in these trials, I see opportunities—opportunities to innovate, to unite, and to ensure the future of Florida blueberries remains as vibrant and fruitful as ever.

Collaboration will be the cornerstone of my leadership. I am committed to listening to your insights, understanding your unique needs, and getting results by working alongside you to address the pressing issues of our time. Together, we can advocate for policies that protect our growers, promote our products, and open doors to new markets. I intend to make sure that your voices are heard so we can leverage resources, share knowledge, and celebrate our successes, big and small.

Your dedication fuels me. Every farm, every berry harvested, and every effort made to strengthen our industry reflects the incredible spirit of this community. The association is rich in history, founded and supported by many remarkable innovators. As your Executive Director, I am here to support you — to champion your interests, amplify your voices, and build on the strong foundation laid by those who have served before me.

The road ahead requires a commitment and focus on the future, but I am confident that by working together, we will not only overcome any challenges but thrive. Florida’s blueberries are a symbol of quality and pride, and I am excited to help us write the next chapter of growth and success.

I look forward to meeting each of you, learning from your experiences, and joining you in celebrating the fruits of your labor—both figuratively and literally. Thank you for welcoming me into this incredible community and trusting me with this role. I am excited to get to work with you. Here’s to a fruitful and thriving future for the Florida Blueberry Growers Association!

With gratitude and hope,

Catherine M. Canone
